THE ERA

OF THE

GREAT

MOVIE PALACE

The Temple Theatre is Mississippi’s largest and grandest movie palace. Opened in 1927, the Theatre was leased and operated for many years by the Saenger Theatre Corporation out of New Orleans.  Silent movies with live music accompaniment on the Mighty Robert Morton Theatre organ and later movies with sound entertained the public for years.  Today the Temple still has 16/35/70 mm projection capability, with Manager/projectionist Roger Smith ready to bring back the days of film.
